Ranveer Singh Bhavnani (born July 6, 1985) is a prominent Indian actor known for his work in Hindi films. With several accolades, including five Filmfare Awards, he is among the highest-paid actors in India and has been a staple on Forbes India’s Celebrity 100 list since 2012.

Early Life and Education
Born in Mumbai, Maharashtra, into a Sindhi family, Singh’s grandparents moved to Bombay from Karachi during the Partition of India. He has an elder sister, Ritika Bhavnani. His paternal grandmother was actress Chand Burke. Singh attended H.R. College of Commerce and Economics in Mumbai before earning a Bachelor of Arts in Telecommunications from Indiana University Bloomington in 2008. He initially worked in advertising but soon pursued his passion for acting.

Career
Singh’s acting debut came with Yash Raj Films’ “Band Baaja Baaraat” (2010), which won him the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut. He gained further recognition with “Lootera” (2013) and solidified his status as a star with several collaborations with director Sanjay Leela Bhansali, including “Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela” (2013), “Bajirao Mastani” (2015), and “Padmaavat” (2018). He won the Filmfare Award for Best Actor for “Bajirao Mastani” and the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actor for “Padmaavat”.

In 2018, Singh starred in the action film “Simmba,” which was a major box-office success. He received further acclaim for his role in “Gully Boy” (2019), earning another Filmfare Award for Best Actor. His portrayal of Kapil Dev in the sports film “83” (2021) also garnered him significant praise and awards.

Recent Work
Despite some commercially unsuccessful films like “Jayeshbhai Jordaar” (2022) and “Cirkus” (2022), Singh bounced back with “Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani” (2023), directed by Karan Johar, which became one of the highest-grossing films of the year.

Personal Life
Singh began dating actress Deepika Padukone in 2012, and they married in 2018 in Lake Como, Italy. The couple announced in February 2024 that they are expecting their first child.
