Divyendu Sharma (born 19 June 1983), known professionally as Divyenndu, is an Indian actor who works in Hindi films and series. He gained recognition for his role in the comedy Pyaar Ka Punchnama (2011), which earned him the Screen Award for Best Male Debut. He subsequently appeared in supporting roles in Chashme Baddoor (2013) and Toilet: Ek Prem Katha (2017). Divyenndu is also known for his performances in the drama series Mirzapur (2018–2020), the miniseries The Railway Men (2023), and the comedy film Madgaon Express (2024).
Early Life and Education
Divyenndu was born on 19 June 1983 in Delhi, India. He graduated with a degree in political science from Kirori Mal College, Delhi University. He has three years of theater experience in Delhi and later pursued a two-year acting diploma at FTII, Pune. Before entering films, he appeared in ads for brands like Virgin Mobile, Birla Sun Life, and Fidelity Mutual Funds. He is married to Akanksha Sharma.
Personal Life
In 2019, Divyenndu dropped his surname for numerological reasons and to promote unity by removing caste distinctions. However, his official documents still carry his full name.
Career
Divyenndu made his Bollywood debut with Pyaar Ka Punchnama, playing the character Liquid, which earned him the Screen Award for Most Promising Newcomer – Male. He also played the poet Omi in David Dhawan’s remake of Chashme Baddoor. He had a minor role in Madhuri Dixit’s comeback film Aaja Nachle before these appearances.
