Christopher Robert Evans (born June 13, 1981) is an American actor known for his roles in both television and film. He started his career with the TV series Opposite Sex in 2000 and gained early recognition for his role in Not Another Teen Movie (2001). Evans became widely known for playing Johnny Storm/The Human Torch in Fantastic Four (2005) and its 2007 sequel. He further solidified his fame with roles in adaptations of comic books and graphic novels, such as TMNT (2007), Scott Pilgrim vs. the World (2010), and Snowpiercer (2013).

Evans achieved international stardom for his portrayal of Steve Rogers/Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), appearing from Captain America: The First Avenger (2011) to Avengers: Endgame (2019). This role made him one of the highest-paid actors globally. Outside the MCU, Evans starred in dramas like Gifted (2017), the mystery Knives Out (2019), the miniseries Defending Jacob (2020), and the action film The Gray Man (2022). Early Life

Christopher Robert Evans was born on June 13, 1981, in Boston, Massachusetts, and raised in Sudbury. His mother, Lisa, is an artistic director, and his father, Bob, is a dentist. He has two sisters, Carly and Shanna, and a brother, Scott, who is also an actor. Evans’ parents divorced in 1999. He has Irish and Italian ancestry and was raised Catholic. His uncle, Mike Capuano, was a U.S. Representative from 1999 to 2019.

Evans was interested in musical theater from a young age and attended acting camp, performing in school and community productions. He graduated from Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School in 1999 and took acting classes at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute in New York City.

Career

1997–2004: Early Roles
Evans began his career with a role in the educational film Biodiversity: Wild About Life! (1997). In 1999, he modeled for Hasbro’s board game Mystery Date. His first screen appearance was in the TV film The Newcomers (2000). He also starred in the series Opposite Sex and had roles in The Fugitive and Not Another Teen Movie (2001).

2005–2010: Breakthrough
In 2005, Evans played Johnny Storm/The Human Torch in Fantastic Four, gaining commercial success despite mixed reviews. He reprised the role in the 2007 sequel. He appeared in various films, including TMNT, Sunshine (2007), Street Kings (2008), and Push (2009).
