Early Life and Background
Disha Patani, born on June 13, 1992, in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, hails from a Rajput Hindu family. Her father, Jagadish Singh Patani, is a police officer, and her mother is a health inspector. She has an elder sister, Khushboo, who is a lieutenant in the Indian Army, and a younger brother, Suryansh. Disha left her engineering studies at Amity University, Lucknow, in her second year. She was the first runner-up in the Pond’s Femina Miss India Indore 2013 pageant.
Acting Career
Debut and Early Roles (2015-2017):
Disha made her acting debut with the Telugu film “Loafer” in 2015, where she played a girl escaping a forced marriage. The film did not perform well at the box office. In 2016, she gained recognition in Bollywood with “M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story,” portraying Priyanka Jha, the girlfriend of the titular character who dies in a car accident. This film was a commercial success, earning ₹216 crore, and won her the Star Debut of the Year Female award at the 18th IIFA Awards. She also appeared in the music video “Befikra” with Tiger Shroff and the Chinese action-comedy “Kung Fu Yoga” alongside Jackie Chan.
Rise to Fame (2018-2020):
In 2018, Disha starred in “Baaghi 2” with Tiger Shroff, a major commercial success grossing ₹258 crore worldwide. In 2019, she had a brief role in the hit film “Bharat,” starring Salman Khan, which grossed ₹325.58 crore. She then appeared in “Malang” (2020), receiving praise for her performance.
